As a registered e-Bulk digital DBS processing partner to the Disclosure and Barring Service, Cataphract will help you and your business to save time and money.
There is no restriction imposed by law on who can apply for a basic disclosure. This gives details of all unspent convictions. An employer may have asked you to obtain a basic disclosure as part of their recruitment process. In Scotland, England and Wales, these are administered by Disclosure Scotland. In Northern Ireland, this is administered by AccessNI.
Cataphract is a registered e-Bulk Umbrella Body, supporting hundreds of Schools, Sports Clubs, charities and foundations to progress their DBS checks in England and Wales.
Standard = Spent and unspent convictions.
Enhanced = Like Standard but with some very specific additions from the Police.
A barred list check can be requested as part of an Enhanced DBS Check, but only if the applicant is eligible. To be eligible, the position the applicant is applying for must involve engaging in regulated activity with children and/or vulnerable adults.
Barred list checks are designed to ensure that no one on either the children’s or adults’ barred lists will work on a regular basis with children under 18 or vulnerable adults.
Therefore, most roles in education and healthcare will require an Enhanced DBS Check. Other professions which are likely to demand an Enhanced DBS Check include roles in leisure, transport and at places of worship.
Scotland has three levels of check. Standard, Enhanced and membership of the PVG scheme. If you are an employer and your staff live and work in Scotland who need a criminal record check, please call Cataphract and we will arrange these checks for you.
Talk to usYou cannot apply for a standard or enhanced check your self. Your application must be counter signed by an AccessNI registered organisation, such as Cataphract. You can apply online if the organisation who has asked you to get a standard or enhanced check has given you a pin number.

We provide a regulated ‘one stop’ service giving access to records held by the police, together with those held by the Department of Health (DH) and the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).
Cataphract has been processing criminal record checks since 2003 and truly believe that the have developed our system to make it as user friendly and simple for the client as possible. Our flexible approach means that the customer can have as much or as little involvement in the management of the process as they wish, from none to full.
Regardless of the involvement selected, Cataphract staff quality controls every application to eliminate errors.
Our service helps to make sure people whose behaviour makes them unsuitable to work with children and protected adults can’t do regulated work with vulnerable groups.
